Betty Evans Sorrells

October 4, 1936 – January 31, 2026

Betty Sorrells, age 89, of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away on January 31, 2026. She was born on October 4, 1936, to Dave and Viola Evans of White Oak, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Sorrells; her daughter, Anita Smith (husband, Mike); her step-mother, Ethel Evans; her brothers, Everett, Garrett, Buster, Walter, and Frank Evans; her twin sister, Eva Sue Foust Seeber; and her sisters, Eloise Clark, Tommie Sutton, and Ann Summers.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Mahaffey (husband, Terry); her sons, Marc Sorrells (wife, Retina) and Curtis Sorrells (wife, Edwina); her grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Brittney Spann (husband, Tyler), and Andrew Sorrells; her beloved niece, Tami Foust Bright (husband, Bruce), whom she loved like her own; along with many cherished great-grandchildren.

Betty was a faithful member of South Clinton Baptist Church and an active participant at the Clinton Senior Center, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Betty was known for her wit, her warmth, and her joy for community. She often joked that she wished for a house without a kitchen because she preferred spending time with her friends rather than cooking and cleaning. We hope she is now enjoying her heavenly home — a place where she never has to lift a finger.

She never lacked social engagements and truly loved being out and about with her many friends. She will be waiting in heaven for her special friends — Willie (Next-Door) Martin, Cecil Allison, Jimmy Beets, Faye Parks, Louise Ledbetter, Billie Marlow, Angie White, and Alice White — so they can continue running around together and having fun, just as they always did.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional love, compassion, and care shown to Betty by the staff at Ben Atchley Home for Veterans. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort and peace during her time there and will always be remembered.

The family will receive friends at Holly Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tennessee on Thursday 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm with a service to follow. The burial will be on Friday at 11:00 am at Grandview Memorial Gardens - also in Clinton.
