Obituary


Betty Ruth Ridenour, 97 years of age, passed away on February 13, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church for over 60 years and retired from Clinton Elementary School after working as a teacher for over 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George W. Ridenour, Sr, and a daughter, Barbara, that died in infancy, and her oldest son, George W. Ridenour Jr.; her parents, W.O. Meredith and wife, Louisa Meredith; her sisters, Ethel Ragland and Gertie Douglas; her brothers, Arlie and Elmore Meredith.

She is survived by her son, Roger L. Ridenour and wife, Lyndall Stokes Ridenour and their daughter, Lea Ellen Agee and husband, John D. Agee, and their children, Sarah, John, Anna, Gracie, Emma and Matthew Agee; and their son, Darren Ridenour and his wife, Tina Ridenour and their children, Logan, Chase and Trey Ridenour. She is also survived by the children of George W. Ridenour, Jr. and Mary Frank Ridenour, Terri Ridenour James and her daughters, Eva and Frances; their oldest son, David Ridenour, and his children, Alex, Roger and David Ridenour; and their youngest son, Lewis Ridenour, and his wife Pam Denny Ridenour; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clinton Memorial United Methodist Church Food Pantry Fund, or to the Clinton Memorial United Methodist Church Men's Sunday School Class, 323 N. Main Street, Clinton, Tennessee 37716, or to a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16th from 12:00 to 1:15 with a funeral directly following with Reverend Laurence Hesser officiating at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton, Tennessee, and a brief graveside service at Sunset Cemetery immediately thereafter.
