Bessie Hughes, age 91, of Clinton formerly of Maynardville passed away September 27, 2016 at her residence. Bessie was affectionately referred to as "GG" by her great grandchildren and those who loved her. She was born November 2, 1924 in Hampshire, England to the late Frank & Bessie Collins and was of the Anglican faith. She was recognized April of 2014 as one of the decedents of the Titanic disaster in which her grandfather, William House lost his life when the vessel sank. She grew up in England and met & married the love of her life her, Arthur Hughes, an American stationed in England during World War II. Throughout her life she loved knitting, painting, crossword puzzles, but most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hughes; sister, Joyce Partington and brother, Jack Collins.
