Bertha Marie (Brown) Ridings, age 94 of Clinton, was ushered into heaven to stand by her Lord Sunday morning, June 12, 2011. She was born in Morley, TN on October 25, 1916. She was a retired nurse, devoted wife, cherished mother, treasured grandmother, precious sister, honored aunt and unforgettable friend. She was a member of Faith Promise Church of Knoxville and a child of God and anyone who knew her seen his love shine through her. She blessed everyone's life that she touched.
She was greeted in heaven by her husband, Theodore Boyd Ridings; children, Betty Carolyn Ridings, Harold William Ridings and a baby boy. Also preceding her in her heavenly journey were her brothers, General Lee Brown, George Washington Brown, Sherman Allen Brown, Earl Brown, Thomas Edward (Buck) Brown and Gilbert Brown; sisters, Ida Brown Richards, Johnnie Geneva Brown Weaver, Mary Katherine Brown and Willie Edna Brown.
She is celebrated in life by her surviving family: beloved sister, Opal Jewell Brown Portwood of Clinton, TN; children, Willa (Vince) Jones of Washington, IL, family of Harold William Ridings of Marion, IL, Rose (Harold) Kenyon of Clinton, TN, Wayne (Donna) Ridings of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Vicky (Dale) Ehringer of Washington, IL, Barbara (Ronald) Pohlman of Bartonville, IL, Paula (Dan) Mailloux of Metamora, IL,
Donald (Judi) Phillips of Metamora, IL, Maria and Melissa Ridings of Marion, IL, Brian (Jody) Kenyon of Knoxville, TN, Diana (Adam) Freels of Jacksboro, TN, Boyd Wayne Ridings, Jr of Sarasota, FL, Shauna (Josh) Spears of Wartburg, TN, Jennifer Heart of Independence, KY and Brian (Michelle) Heart of Cleves, OH.; 25 great grandchildren; 15 great, great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Friday, June 17, 2011, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with her Celebration of Life service immediately following with
nephew - Rev. John Weaver, Pastor Chris Stephens and Rev. Anthony Collins officiating.
