Barbara Jean Padgett Morgan, 90, passed away on March 28, 2020 at Canterfield of Oak Ridge.

Born October 11, 1929 in Columbia, South Carolina to Charles and Ethel Padgett, Barbara later settled in Nashville with her beloved husband Len. She raised three children and was an active member of First Baptist Church, Donelson. Throughout her life Barbara was profoundly warm and friendly, whether she was greeting schoolchildren in her work as a costumed docent at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage or later serving on the committee that welcomed new residents to her assisted living facility. Her kindness and hospitality shone in the summers she spent working as a volunteer campground host on Mount Mitchell in North Carolina, using her beautiful singing voice to lead a Sunday worship service on a rocky outcropping in the campsite. She was fortunate enough to travel extensively, both domestically and abroad, with Monhegan Island in Maine and Morehead City in North Carolina holding special places in her heart. Wherever she went, she invested the time to learn about and befriend the people around her, radiating concern and affection for everyone she interacted with.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lafayette Morgan, Jr., and her brothers Charles "Buddy" Padgett and David Padgett. She is survived by her children; Mike Morgan (Stephanie), Kym Cuffman (John), and Mark Morgan (Annie), her grandchildren; Eric Morgan (Sarha), Shelley Broadhead (Rex), and Lydia Cuffman (Brice Morrison), Ariel Patrick-Testino (Andréa), Lars Patrick (Schuyler), her great-grandsons; Liam Morgan and Bram Morrison, her brother, Joe Padgett, and loving caregiver, Elaine Sharp.

A private ceremony is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made in Barbara's name to the Woodland Elementary School Library ( 168 Manhattan Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 ).
