Barbara Kay Dabney Burns, age 62, of Chattanooga, formerly of Clinton, went home to be with her heavenly father on Monday, February 3, 2025.  She was born May 5, 1962, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and graduated from Lake City High School in 1981.   As a child, she explored the woods around the family home with her siblings. Later, she went through a biker phase, moving to California and then going through a brief time being a trucker. She eventually slowed down and spent most of her time working to provide for her family.   Barbara had the most giving and loving heart. Even though she had no children, she raised her grandson, Shawn Burns, who was her pride and joy in life.  She was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Dabney, Sr.; brother, Robert A. Dabney, Jr.; grandparents, Allen Patterson and Carlie Purkey Patterson, Robert Condy Dabney, and Emma Crawford Dabney; brother-in-law, Wayne Kiggans.

She is survived by her husband, David Burns; grandson, Shawn Burns; mother, Wanda Patterson Dabney & husband Boyd Wright; sister, Janet Kiggans; nephew, Derek Kiggans; niece, Shanna Wilhite & husband John; stepsister, Brenda Huckaby & husband Carl; 8 great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 pm, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the chapel.  Her graveside will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.  Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.  holleygamble.com
