Auguston Eugene Kilgore went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Tennova North Medical Center with his family by his side. Eugene was a devoted husband; a loving, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a loving and loyal brother to six brothers and one sister; a favored uncle to many nieces and nephews; and beloved friend to many.
Eugene was born in Manuel, KY to Samuel O. and Geneva Napier Kilgore. He graduated from Berea Foundation High School and was successfully self-employed until his retirement. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton, TN. Eugene's achievements in life were numerous but he will be remembered as a man of God who had a true servant's heart particularly expressed in his love of children. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Eugene is survived by wife, Patricia Mary Kilgore; son, Samuel Dean (Carol Anne) Kilgore; granddaughter, Reagan Elizabeth (Duke) Gayheart; great-grandson, Lucas Hunter Gayheart; sister, Gerema (Harold) Corder of Somerset, KY; brothers, J.B. (Shirley) Kilgore of Dayton, OH, Daniel (Dolly) Kilgore of Speedwell, TN, Dennis Kilgore of Knoxville, TN, Winston (Linda) Kilgore of Speedwell, TN, and Darrell (Judy) Kilgore of LaFollette, TN; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by wife, Laura Elizabeth Bowls; brother, Robert Aaron Kilgore.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 22nd from 5-7 PM at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow with Dr. Michael Thompson officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, August 23rd at 10:30 AM at Grandview Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Second Baptist Church, 777 Public Safety Lane, Clinton, TN 37716.
