Rev. Archie Nelson, age 80 of Clinton, passed away at his residence Sunday, August 28, 2011. A member and Associate Pastor of Batley Baptist Church and former Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in Scott County, Indian Gap, Batley Baptist, New Mountain View and Cedar Bluff in Knox County. Archie was an U.S. Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired carpenter with membership in Local #50 in Knoxville.
Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Harriet May Nelson; son, James Patrick (Pat) Nelson; grandson, Jeff Nelson; brothers, Virgil Cleo and Edward Henson Nelson.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 29, 2011, from 6-8PM at Batley Baptist Church in Clinton. Funeral service will follow at 8PM with Rev. Luke Kidwell and Rev. Jimmy Davidson officiating.
