Amilcar Alejandro Martínez

"My Little Giant"

Amilcar Alejandro Martínez Ramos was born on April 7, 2005 in the village of Camojallito, municipality of La Democracia, Department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Son of Amilcar Salvador Martínez de Leon and Francisca Roselia Ramos, brother of Carolina Noemí Martínez Ramos and Cristian Salvador Martínez Ramos, grandson of Juana Lucinda de Leon Castillo and Bernarda Ramos and Julia Castillo de León, nephew of Rafael de Leon, Abner Castillo, Vidal de Leon and Lily de Leon.  Amical was a senior at West Highschool in Knoxville, TN.

On October 28, 2015, we undertook the trip to the United States arriving here on December 20, 2015. We crossed the Rio Grande together hand in hand, walking. Almilcar was a child who always gave me courage. I felt faint on the way to Mexico, and he always told me "we have to achieve it daddy". I remember when we crossed the border with Mexico, already in the United States, he shook my hand and told me, "We made it daddy". Being here in Knoxville, Tennessee, Amilcar was always my companion and my engine to always fight. His phone calls were to ask if I was okay...one of his fears was that he always needed me and he said that he would never live without me. But God took him now.

What am I going to do without him…that's why from the day he accompanied me on this trip he was my daily drive…that's why I named him MY LITTLE GIANT because he was my little one but he gave me a lot of courage to continue…. he just sleeps and I have the faith and the certainty that we will see each other again...Fly high my little giant. —

The Word of God gives us strength and hope in the book of Isaiah 41:10 where it says, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm with service to follow at 7:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church.
