Alma "Bug" Ruth Risden, age 74, a special child of God, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2026, at NHC Healthcare of Oak Ridge. Alma was born on July 5, 1951, in Lake City to the late Elmer and Nettie Ruth Risden. She was affectionately known as "Bug" by her family and friends.
Throughout her life, Bug brought joy and warmth to those around her. She found delight in watching game shows and soap operas on television, and her family respected her favorite pastime, knowing not to interrupt her viewing. This playful tradition became a treasured part of their lives, illustrating Bug's spirited personality and her appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Alma will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends, who celebrate her memory and the joy she brought to their lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Meredith, Bernice Sayles, and Iva Risden; and her brothers, Walter Risden and James "Ed" Risden.
She is survived by her sisters, Nadine Printz, Evalene Horton, Lois Sayles, and Edith Barnett; brothers, Willis Risden, Cecil Risden & wife Gail, and Kenny Risden & wife Linda; and her sister-in-law, Betty Risden.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to NHC Healthcare of Oak Ridge for the compassionate care provided to Bug during her time there. They are also deeply thankful to the staff at Caris Hospice, whose support and dedication brought comfort to both Bug and her loved ones. A special note of appreciation goes to nurse Amber from Caris Hospice for her kindness, warmth, and friendship shown to Bug. The love and support from everyone involved made a meaningful difference during this difficult time.
The family will have a graveside service at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
