Obituary

Allen Ellsworth Thompson, 81, passed away on January 15, 2026. Born on July 15, 1944, to the late Alden H. and Mildred A. Thompson. Allen lived a life centered on faith, his loving wife, a deep love for the land, and horses.

First and foremost, Allen was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus. His faith was the foundation of his life and guided the way he treated others—with kindness, humility, and sincerity. Those who knew him best will remember his gentle spirit and quiet strength.

A true cowboy at heart, Allen was raised in Minnesota, where he spent many years farming and embracing the rural life he cherished. His love for horses and riding was lifelong and remained a source of peace and joy throughout his life. Later, Allen migrated to Tennessee, where he continued living close to the land and the lifestyle he loved.

It was in Tennessee that Allen met the love of his life, Mary Sue Thompson, 12 years ago. Their relationship was built on a shared love of Jesus, horses, and simply being together. Mary Sue was Allen's constant companion and greatest joy.

Allen will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his kindness, his faith, and the deep love and devotion he had for his wife, Mary Sue.

The family will have a Celebration of Life service held at a later date.  Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.  Holleygamble.com
