Obituary

Alan W. McClain passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 with his family at his side. He was guided by angels to join God. He was a wonderful man who would do anything for anyone at anytime. Born in Knoxville, TN to Kenneth and Fern McClain, he was a wonderful early Christmas gift. Mr. McClain attended Carson Newman and began teaching at Lake City School System. He then joined the Peace Corp where he realized he loved to travel. After living in Africa about 9 years, he returned to resume his teaching for Anderson County School System where he taught for approximately 40 years. Mr. McClain had a heart of gold and made friends wherever he went. He touched many people's life and people were usually better off just knowing him and having him in their lives. He will be missed by many, especially by his family who considered him the rock of the family.

He is survived by his wife, Ann McClain; daughters Angela McClain and Mary Lowe. Also he has two grandsons, Jesse McClain Meadows and Robert L. Phillips who were considered his pride and joy and will miss him greatly. Mr. McClain's wish was to be cremated which will be honored and a memorial service will be set up at a later time for all those who wish to come and say goodbye.
